Who Is Dr. Leslie Masters, MD?
Masters grew up in rural South Dakota and had what might be called an idyllic childhood. At the age of 15, however, she developed an intimate relationship with the medical world when she was nearly killed in a car accident that caused massive internal injuries, a crushed pelvis, leg and hip. She fought through 40+ surgeries and 15 years of physical therapy and rehabilitation to regain her independence. The experience changed her life and shaped her ambitions.
Despite years of traditional medical training and board certification in the areas of Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, Masters’ true calling has become one of helping patients to live life as happy, healthy, whole people. In 2005 Dr. Masters left traditional medicine and opened MastersMD, a center for Metabolic and Cosmetic Medicine. Health, wellness and well-being has become her focus and the art and science of teaching patients to look, feel and perform at their highest levels has become her passion.
As comfortable in the spotlight as she is in the operating room, Dr. Masters has been featured as a medical and wellness expert in numerous television, newspaper and radio news stories and interviews across the country. Dr. Masters has authored three books in the areas of spiritual, mental and physical wellness. In, her book “Naked”, Dr. Masters writes, with finesse and conviction, a basic primer on personal storytelling. “Naked” is about life…life bubbling over with success, tragedy, pain, renewal, failure, transformation, and redemption. It is a guttural look at what it means to be a human being…both contemptible and beyond contempt, both imperfect and perfect.
Today, Masters speaks to audiences and individuals, not simply about “feeling better”, but rather about HOW to feel better and HOW to perform better. With scientific evidence as her counsel, Masters teaches each patient, one by one, HOW to optimize their health, restore their body and perform at their very top level…from the boardroom to the bedroom…from the athletic field to the home field.
